Description and features
The pea (Pisum sativum) is an annual herbaceous plant belonging to the Fabaceae family, native to the Mediterranean and eastern areas.
These legumes are of very ancient origin, even the first evidence dates back to 2000 BC. in Asia Minor. Italy is one of the main producers and in our country they are among the most used and appreciated legumes also by children.
The cultivated pea has a tap root, a more or less branched fistulous stem with short and long internodes. The plant is characterized by a variable height between 40 cm and 2 m with a prostrate or climbing habit.
