Cherries
Description and features
The cherry is an ovoid, rounded or heart-shaped drupe, about 1-2 cm in diameter; it can also be found with a slightly elongated sphere shape. Flowering occurs in spring at the same time as the leaves appear: a spectacle of nature due to the density and profusion of white floral clusters, which give the foliage a white appearance.
The composition of the nutrients does not change much from one variety to another. In addition to vitamins A and B, we find proteins, mineral salts of calcium, magnesium and iron. Also present are antioxidant substances, mainly anthocyanins. Cherries are rich in sugars but with a minimal caloric intake, just 38 kcal per 100 grams, therefore ideal for a low-calorie diet. They also have a good assortment of organic acids and a fair amount of potassium.
